Prof. Kennedy A. Alatinga is Senior Lecturer and Dean of the Faculty of Planning and Land Management,
SD-Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies, Wa, Ghana. Prof. Alatinga holds a
Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from the University of The Western Cape (UWC), South Africa.
He also holds an MPA (CUM LAUDE) from UWC, MA in International Development Management from the Ruhr
University in Bochum, Germany and BA in Integrated Development Studies, from the University for
Development Studies, (UDS), Ghana. Prof. Alatinga also holds Certificates in Public Policy Analysis
from Maastricht Graduate School of Governance in the Netherlands, Policy Communication from the
Population Reference Bureau, Washington D.C., USA, Academic Writing from the Africa Study Center,
University of Michigan, USA. In 2013, he won the University of Michigan African Presidential Scholars
(UMAPS) Awards for research stay at the University of Michigan.
While at Michigan, he was affiliated to the Gerald Ford School of Public Policy, where he took courses in
Quantitative Policy Analysis and Program Evaluation. In 2014, he won the prestigious Population Reference
Bureau's Policy Communication Fellowship for 2014-2015. Prof. Alatinga also holds a Certificate in
Population and Development from Brown University, USA, having won the Brown International Advanced Research
Institutes Fellowship in Population and Development in 2015. He also won a DAAD scholarship for his Ph.D.
and MA degrees in 2012 and 2008 respectively. Prof. Alatinga has published in peer-reviewed journals in the
areas of public policy, poverty and access to health care, amongst others. His research interests are in the
areas of social policy and health protection.
